Par un travail de l’image et de la matière, je cherche à
réconcilier les pôles d’un monde clivé et hiérarchisé.
J’utilise donc l’installation, la sculpture, la peinture, la
vidéo, le dessin et la performance pour revoir une façon de trier
le réel qui donne à l’humain une préséance sur tout ce qui
existe. Ainsi, ma démarche ramène à la conscience ce qui fait
partie intégrante de notre univers, mais qui est peu, voire
aucunement considéré, ce que l’on tente trop souvent de cacher ou
de dévaluer. Dans cette optique, mes œuvres rétablissent les liens
entre le civilisé et l’inapprivoisé, la vie et la mort, la force
et les blessures, la jeunesse et la vieillesse, le neuf et l’usagé, les matériaux nobles et les matériaux pauvres, le beau et le laid, la cohésion et la dislocation, le lumineux et
l’obscur, etc. Aussi, je mets en place et observe les rencontres
possibles entre une société qui a fini par évoluer hors de sa
niche écologique et une nature sauvage qu’elle exploite, mais avec
laquelle elle n’a presque plus de contact. Pour réussir ces
rapprochements, je procède à des interventions plastiques qui
évoquent la magie et le surnaturel, analogie manifeste d’un des
seuls pouvoirs d’action qui est à ma portée : la création
artistique. Inspiré par le regard hors-norme de l’écoféminisme, mon travail montre comment, à travers le
rituel, nous pouvons utiliser la représentation pour tenter d’agir
sur le réel. Ce moyen d’explorer le rôle et la place de l’image
dans le monde tangible permet de tenir compte de la frontière
imprécise séparant notre imaginaire et la réalité.
Through a work of image and matter, I try to reconcile the poles of a divided and hierarchical world. So I use installation, sculpture, painting, video, drawing and performance to review a way of sorting out reality that gives the human a precedence over everything that exists. Thus, my approach brings back to consciousness that which is an integral part of our universe, but which is little, or even not at all considered, that which we too often try to hide or devalue. From this perspective, my works re-establish the links between the civilized and the uncivilized, life and death, strength and wounds, youth and old age, new and used, noble and poor materials, beautiful and ugly, cohesion and dislocation, light and darkness, and so on. Also, I set up and observe the possible encounters between a society that has ended up evolving outside its ecological niche and a wilderness that it exploits, but with which it has almost no contact anymore. In order to make these encounters a success, I proceed with plastic interventions that evoke magic and the supernatural, a clear analogy of one of the only powers of action that is within my reach: artistic creation. Inspired by the unusual viewpoint of eco-feminism, my work shows how, through ritual, we can use representation to try to act on reality. This way of exploring the role and place of the image in the tangible world allows us to take into account the imprecise border separating our imagination and reality.
